“ELEMENTAL” Exhibition

poster for “ELEMENTAL” Exhibition

This event has ended.

Beckoning the sun to illuminate our days and reveal beauty in the the shadows and silhouettes of our selves and our objects.

Unearthing relics and at once finding and creating objects that are both new and eternal.

Indefinable shapes churning and swooshing about in a cosmic scene where sublime mark-making and emergent forms rule the day.

Peeling the label from a bottle, a vessel that has traveled throughout human time as it reappears anew atop a surface as voluminous and gestural as the high seas.

Totems standing tall as guideposts to a universal yearning for something greater than ourselves.

Making cuts along a curvature through history, remembering and redefining an elemental practice of assemblage and reduction.

This exhibition brings together the paintings and sculptures of six artists who have developed their own visual relationship to our universal narrative—from antiquity to the present day appropriation of signs and symbols, to the painterly gesture behind or in front of an uncertain object. The works in this exhibition and their references, harken back and carry forward our shared historical memory.
