This event has ended.

envoy enterprises presents Metrocard Merry-go-round +3 a solo show by Richard Bloes.
Bloes’ objects generally appear as loosely assembled elements from store-bought self- assembly kits, woodshop scraps, and found performance props that are anachronistically punctuated with the hard edge and movement of a video. In actuality the objects are highly organized sequences of things and stuff that are manipulated by friends and family according to a script by the artist, who documents the action in real time on video.

Metrocard Merry-go-round. +3, we all fall down.
Like pushing
Two turns around in circles we go
I say stop, you say slow
An avalanche of people in a metrocard show.
Turnstiles spinning beep beep tops spinning
The swiping cards are full of sounds.
Some like it flat others like it round.
Track 1 track 2 track 4
I see.
Like birds thinking bees
We swarm the tracks
looking for track 3.
The train I’m on has hit the ground
Some tops keep spinning while others fall down.
I look up to the sky
I say a prayer
Keep this train a movin
Or I will fall to despair
Home again I spin around
This metrocard parade just won’t slow down.
I look to the princes of distraction in the trees
Tell me what happened to track #3.
