Frank O’Hara’s poem, “Why I Am Not a Painter” provides the inspiration for thisfreewheeling exhibit by Blue Mountain Gallery artists.

Several poems by FrankO’Hara will be read by RosemarySchultz, who uses her background in theater and dance forinsightful public readings of poetry. Terry Diggory, Professor Emeritusof English at Skidmore College, will talk about collaboration between FrankO’Hara and Grace Hartigan on the Oranges. Diggory has publishedwidely on the connection between literature and the arts.

O’Hara poignantly evokes the spirit of camaraderie, the early days of thedowntown art world and the ongoing struggles and concerns of the creative lifewhich resonate in our gallery’s own history and our artists’ current work.
