This event has ended.

OUTLET Fine Art is pleased to present NSFW, a group show that examines the politics of the male nude, featuring paintings by Margot Bird, Martha Hipley, GaHee Park, Alexandra Rubinstein, Helen Selsdon, Brenda Zhang, and a choreographed artwork by Kenya Johnson, all female artists.

Within the idyllic* world of the art establishment there is an uncomfortability with both the depiction of the nude male body and the recognition of women as valuable artists. According to acclaimed artist collective, The Guerilla Girls, less than four percent of artists in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Modern Art Section are women but seventy-six percent of the nudes are female.** This uncomfortability is at the heart of NSFW, an abbreviation meaning Not Safe For Work often used when sharing licentious images of naked women online. Seeking to flip the script on the conversation about representation OUTLET is presenting five artists whose works offer a different way of looking at the body, masculinity, and perspective.
