For its 24th edition, Outsider Art Fair New York brings together a diverse and international group of dealers, and looks forward to its new location, 125 West 18th Street.
‘Outsider Art’ was originally conceived as an English synonym for ‘art brut’, a label coined by Jean Dubuffet to describe art created outside the confines of official culture. Having become increasingly popular, Outsider Art has been featured in international exhibitions, including the 2013 Venice Biennale and the new Whitney’s inaugural America Is Hard to See.
Outsider Art transcends collecting genres; it is an incredibly powerful and honest mirror of both the artist and our time.
