This event has ended.

Melissa McCaig-Welles and Rodrigo Valles presents a series of photographs by Gregory Berg in what will be his debut New York City solo exhibition.

Feet dangling over skyscrapers, mysterious innards of the subway tunnels, bright lights and dazzling colors, ruins of century old theaters and abandoned psychiatric wards; it’s terrifying and it’s beautiful, it wrenches us by the collar and thrusts us into a world that is dangerous, dirty and treacherous.

Berg is successful at taking us to this place, well versed on the complicated technicalities of getting these images, be it from scaling buildings, finding the secret entrances to tunnels or the secret door that leads to these exquisite destinations. It’s awe inducing, overwhelming and spectacular, but it’s the raw beauty and intense emotion that Berg transcends from these moments that makes this experience so extraordinary and unique.

In “I Could Never Love You This Much” a series of photographs are a study of urban explorations. The loneliness is transformed into hope, the grittiness becomes beauty and the silence is tranquility. All through the use of natural light, Berg’s perspective and all-encompassing composition we see beauty where one might expect to find sadness and bravery in where one might expect to find fear. It’s the unexpected beauty that he is able to capture that makes this an experience beyond just a photograph.

Gregory Berg is 22 years old. He started taking pictures from his 35mm film camera at the age of 13, he began urban exploration when he was 18. Since then he has captured the worlds attention with these images, gaining a following on Instagram of 70,000 followers and quickly growing. His works are being collected and shown in galleries and fairs around the country alongside the works of legendary pioneers and the spearheads of today’s New Contemporary Art Movement.
