This event has ended.

OPENSPACE Nomadic Gallery presents its inaugural show at its new location in Tribeca. The gallery will open its doors on Friday, November 11, 2016, with a solo exhibition by Pipi Deer called remnants.

The centerpiece of this exhibition is the installation remnants, 40 objects of significance, sealed in zip lock bags, affixed directly to a wall. The sealed bags preserve what is lost: memories, death, beauty; each tracing back to a time and place, mostly forgotten. Each object is heart-felt, with a deeply personal history. These relics have a definite aura, infused with life essence, refusing to be tossed away. Each separate bag and its object holds a life, slowly dying. Also part of the exhibition are two photographs and a piece of sculpture, further fragments of a fading past.

Curated by Mustafa Farhad Zahir.

Pipi Deer has had previous solo exhibitions at OPENSPACE Nomadic Gallery in 2011 and 2014. Her work includes photography, painting, film, sewing, performance & found objects that often add to the refinement of moments captured and then returned with new life. She lives and works in Sag Harbor, New York.
