Gallery d’Arte, 548 West 28th Street, Suite336, New York City presents Solo Exhibition of Chung Yoon Kim: Untitled.

The three sculptures in the exhibition are among Chung Yoon Kim’s most remarkable latest large-scale sculptures. Conceived of connected rectangular and using the square pillars that relate to minimizing of human figure, these works are among the most streamlined, reduced sculptural forms the artist ever made.

Chung Yoon Kim spent most of his time making sculptures since early years. He moved to New York City in 1974 and started to travel around United States in order to seek out a genuine artistic philosophy from 1977 to 1980. He started to work on his works again since 1983 and had many Solo and Group Exhibitions internationally. His previous works were mostly made of Woods by joining two different natural colored woods. In his recent series of sculptures, he chose metal (cast bronzes) and asymmetrical shapes that represent a great minimalist form as well. Regardless of what materials are used, anything that which is linked to the human being and nature because he believes that a person goes back to dust when human dies. The story line of his works is deliberately basic, relying in great part on sensibility and the simple but strong physical attraction between forms.

Chung Yoon Kim is a sculptor based in New York City. He received his MFA at Pratt Institute, BA at Hong-Ik University, and Seoul High School of Music and Art, majored in sculpture. He currently lives in New York City, continues his work, and devoted all his life to creating sculptures.
