Roland Auctions NY presents its second annual “Modern and Contemporary Art & Design Auction” to be held on Tuesday,
May 17th, commencing at 4 pm sharp. An outstanding offering composed almost entirely of post-war fine art and design. Nationwide and
international online real-time bidding opportunities are provided via www.liveauctioneers.com. A varied group, this auction was curated by
Valerie Roland with the clear intention of providing works at every bidding tier for collectors ranging from the tentative beginner to the
experienced blue chip connoisseur. Just a cursory glance at the catalogue (available online at www.rolandauctions.com) reveals an
international spectrum of works spanning modern masters, mid-career,
and emerging artists in a myriad media.
Passionately sought after modern artists in this sale include: Burhan Cahit Doğançay, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marilyn
Minter, Francesco Clemente, Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol among others. Complimenting these modern masters is an impressive selection of contemporary mid-career and emerging artists. Just a few of the artists in this latter category include: Emile Salome, Andy Jurinko, Ricardo Migliorisi, Robert Loughlin, and Augustus Goertz among many others.
Twentieth century furniture and decorative arts aficionados will be vying for pieces by titans of design: Paul Evans, Georg Jensen, Philip
and Kelvin Laverne, Milo Baughman, Franco Albini, and Edward Wormley for Dunbar. Additional items on the auction block Tuesday include
works “after” such luminaries as Jean Michel Frank.
Interest in this sale is gaining momentum daily and Roland Auctions expects a full house on the afternoon of May 17th. To begin previews
for this auction spectators are invited to an opening party on Thursday, May 12th from 6 pm until 9 pm. This soiree, complete with
drinks and hors d’oeurves, is certain to be well attended and will include a number of artists represented in the sale!
