Alli Miller will kick off her residency with an event to celebrate the Eve of City of Water Day on July 15th. Miller will offer personalized presentations of her project to make an application for the Great Pacific Garbage Patch to become recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Further formalizing research concerning current trends in representation and waste, Miller will additionally enact performative “builds” of Trash Floats, inflatables made of post-consumer waste. During Miller’s Open Lab Hours (Thursday-Sunday, 12-6pm) and events, attendees are invited to use the gallery as a plastic bag, packaging and other post-consumable recycling drop-off center. Appointments for Open Lab Hours are recommended, but not required.
