This event has ended.

Songs for Presidents presents PASÓ / PASO / PASA, a solo exhibition of painting, drawing, and installation by multi-media artist Nicky Santamaria.

Santamaria explores themes of identity and language by employing traditional techniques and materials with non-traditional and queer sensibilities. Her interest in language lies in both its limitations and its power to shape the world around us. A first generation American, Santamaria was born to Colombian parents in South Florida. She is now based out of Brooklyn, New York. PASÓ / PASO / PASA is Santamaria’s first solo show in New York.

PASÓ / PASO / PASA is curated by Emma Fague, a curatorial assistant at Songs for Presidents. This show is also Fague’s first curatorial project in New York. They are based in Brooklyn, NY.

Started in September 2014, the curatorial assistant program brings emerging young curators into the gallery to gain experience and develop their own exhibitions.
