“Time Line, Life Line” Exhibition
440 Gallery
This event has ended.
The Project Space features three artists connected by a common thread of visual memoir.
Susan Greenstein, a painter and printmaker, uses sketchbooks as part of her practice for preparatory drawings and art objects. The accordion books in this exhibition are linear records of prints and drawings that Greenstein has created over several years.
Shanee Epstein’s collages are a variation of her recent work. Irregular edges direct the eye outside the rectilinear plane and bring energy to each piece. Textures and colors are formed through the use of fabric and beads that Epstein combines with personal photographs to create familial homages.
Nancy Lunsford’s work is based on memoir and takes various forms. In these portrayals of family and ancestors she combines text and portraiture with a form of magic realism that transforms images of a grandmother into a zombie and a mother into a fiddle.
