Works on Paper is an exhibition that resonates with a graphic sensibility imbued with music, myth and poetry. In most of the pieces, a textured, colored ground was created then worked onto with forms developed intuitively. At times, the textures on the surface suggest the developing structure. Music plays an essential role and is always listened to during the creation of the work. The process is spontaneous, almost subconscious. One shape may inspire the next and a pattern or image might emerge. A sound or rhythm may guide the hand. At times, the work may be inspired by a poem or a life experience. Remnants of prints can be seen in some works as elements of collage or mixed media.
