“Overripe” Exhibition
Trestle Projects
This event has ended.
Fruit left too long on the vine, drippy and sweating, fruit covered in the thin snow of white-ish mold. What defines overripeness? Ghostly blackberries at the end of summer. Cheap tomatoes at Mr Melon on Fulton Street, marked down because they’re far past their prime.
Or perhaps it describes an olfactory quality? A sweet, sickly rotting smell. The kind of smell you enjoy for half a second and then quickly recoil from. My socks are ripe, your socks are overripe.
This group exhibition explores overripeness in the saturated, gauzy, pungent, juicy, gooey, squelchy, smelly works of five artists.
