Marlborough Graphics presents Portraits in Print, an exhibition of portraits by modern and contemporary masters in the printed medium. An impressive selection of prints by Francis Bacon, Chuck Close, Lucian Freud, David Hockney, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Manolo Valdés are featured in the exhibition.The works on view span a period of 90 years, from 1923 to 2013, and vary in terms of printmaking technique and approach. The subject of each portrait is identifiable as a family member, friend, artistic muse or another person of importance in the artists’ lives. The nature of these individual relationships between the artists and their subjects directly influenced the style of each print. Two outstanding self-portraits by Francis Bacon and Chuck Close are also included in the exhibition.
