This event has ended.

Atlantic Gallery present Nature’s Intermezzo, an exhibition of recent work by Irene Christensen. The exhibit will feature acrylic paintings and drawings that were inspired by the wonders of nature, by her many art residencies in Costa Rica, living in the USA, as well as Norway.

For many years, Irene has developed her own fantasy images — both organic and constructive — in making her work. The personal iconography of Irene’s art is rooted in the figurative and landscape images with drawn lines and color setting moods rather than copying nature. These visuals are melded through sensual intuition.
Irene Christensen has had solo exhibitions at Galeria Nacional, Costa Rica, Elverum Skogs Museum, Norway, E.F.T.A., Brussels, Belgium, Bergen Museum & Paterson Museum, New Jersey as well as many cultural centers and galleries in Norway, Germany, and USA . She has also exhibited in Brazil, Argentina and Israel. She has received many honorariums and awards both in Europe and USA. Her art is in many museums and private art collections.

“Irene Christensen’s art is about painting as a magical act. Her images repeat and are transformed, as words and images in poems. She likes to maintain a sense of wonder in her art. That life is strange and quirky, and contradictory, that tragedy and comedy are not played out in separate theaters, but co-exist, side by side.”
-Excerpt from art critic John Zeaman
