ESSEX STREET presents an exhibition of eleven new drawings by Vern Blosum. These are the first works produced by Blosum since 1964.

Vern Blosum is a pseudonymous Pop Artist, initially working between 1961-1964. His work was included in exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Museum, Houston; Washington Gallery of Modern Art, Washington DC; Albright-Knox Gallery, Buffalo, New York; Oakland Museum of Art, California; The Art Gallery at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His work was reviewed in the Washington Post; Artforum International; Pittsburg Post-Gazette; New York Times; and numerous catalogues. Blosum was represented by Leo Castelli Gallery, New York and his work was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Robert Scull; Burton and Emily Tremaine, Betty Asher; Sonja Henie-Niels Onstad; and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

In 2013, Vern Blosum’s work was rediscovered and exhibited at Tomwork, Los Angeles and ESSEX STREET,New York. In 2014, Lionel Bovier curated a retrospective of Blosum at Kunsthalle Bern. A catalogue was published on the occasion by JRP Ringier.
