“Peep Holes / Private Eyes” Exhibition
Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Programs
This event has ended.
The Art Department at the State University of New York at New Paltz announces PEEP HOLES / PRIVATE EYES, a group exhibition of artwork by selected alumni from the SUNY New Paltz Painting and Sculpture programs hosted by Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Programs in Long Island City, NY.
In this day and age it’s hard to not be a peeping tom. We are all voyeurs, we no longer scale trees to catch a modest glimpse of a bra unclipping. Today our viewing pleasures have grown sophisticated. Our hungry gaze is insatiable, filtered by megapixels as we dive deep into the web to catch illicit views of other’s lives and psyches.
PEEP HOLES / PRIVATE EYES features four artists on their individual voyeuristic mission, questioning the nature of the “human lens” today, and asking: Is our gaze that of perverse sensation seeker, or that of the tender witness?
