This event has ended.

Lois Bender’s exhibition of watercolors will transport you to the Parisian gardens that she has lovingly captured.

Bender, awarded a French art residency at Camac* in the Spring 2014, painted Parisian gardens onsite from the iconic well-known to the hidden neighborhood sites to Monet’s famed Giverny just outside of Paris as colorful,
vibrant, light-bathed watercolor studies and as larger paintings in her studio post-residency.

Parisian gardens express French civic pride and “joie de vivre,” creating a visual feast for the beholder’s eye. Bender’s paintings capture the gardens’ aura as natural horticultural embellishments of Paris’ beauty,
mystique and architecture, be it the Louvre or a Paris street. Bender’s paintings revel in these idyllic scenes.

“April in Paris”
Composer, Vernon Duke and lyrics, E.Y. Harburg, 1932,
as sung by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald

April in Paris, chestnuts in blossom
Holiday tables under the trees
April in Paris, this is a feeling
No one can ever reprise

I never knew the charm of spring
Never met it face to face
I never knew my heart could sing
Never missed a warm embrace

Till April in Paris, whom can I run to?
What have you done to my heart?…………and Refrain
