But anyway, she topped me because in that scene in the kiss at the end, when we were at the bar—extreme close up. Josh Logan, said “I, I want an extreme close up. Just those faces there.” And so, they sent … the cameraman said, “We can’t shoot that close Josh, this is err, Cinemascope! A huge screen; you’ll startle everybody.” Err, they, they just wouldn’t accept that. He said, “I don’t care, as long as you keep the focus, I want that huge close up.” So we set the thing up and rehearsed it, and the camera operator said, “It’s no good Josh, it’s no good.” He said, “Well, why not?” “Because the camera cuts off the top of Don’s head.” And Marilyn said, “But the audience knows he has a top to his head, it’s been established.”

As a matter of fact they cut off the top of her head on several occasions as well. It didn’t seem to be bothering them when they did that to her. I don’t know why that is. …. Um, um.
