This event has ended.

Galleria Ca’ d’Oro’s New York location will host the New York debut of the work of Lorenzo Perrone alongside new works by Ewa Bathelier. Both artists will attend.

Despite having graduated from the New School several years ago, Italian sculptor Lorenzo Perrone still relies on New York City for significant inspiration. He returns to the City to show his work there for the first time this March. Using books, plaster, glue, acrylic paint, and other media, Perrone transforms a book, and it acquires an accentuated symbolism wherein tactile and sensory suggestions are heightened. The language becomes that of surfaces, folds, volumes, emptiness, fullness, positive and negative spaces that transform a book into a sculpture. Perrone uses white for its ability to command attention. He believes that, in the end, freed from the weight of words, the pages become symbols, and the libro bianco gains eloquence and calls silently for a different reading.

Ewa Bathelier returns for a second show at Galleria Ca’ d’Oro’s New York location, featuring new paintings. Bathelier is heavily influenced by theater and dance, creating larger than life images of dresses and tutus in her signature style. The artist uses her own emotions to create a subliminal transliteration often perceived as absence-presence. The body, light and naked, lies symbolically on the background, and the clothes leave the imprint of the absent body. Her work is immediately recognizable for its iconic imagery, large scale, and unique media.
