This event has ended.

In his second show in the United States, award-winning French photographer Laurent Chéhère will present 5 new iconic “Flying Houses” at Muriel Guépin Gallery. Laurent Chéhère, a French photographer born in 1972 in Paris, makes images of flying houses and other dwellings that are informed by his wanderings in the hidden neighborhoods of Paris and by his love of cinematic history. The charming manipulated images, part digital, part analog depict a dreamlike world where his reconstructed houses appear to float in a silvery sky. Several titles are taken from classic films, such as “Who are you Polly Magoo” to name just one.

Patrick Dintino, a Californian-based artist born in 1964, paints vertical bands of glowing color in a horizontal or rectangular format that read as both a scientific representation of the spectrum and an emotional landscape of pure color. Painted with oil on canvas, the softly undulating stripes of light and dark generate their own kind of perceptual space, one that incorporates the naturally horizontal field of human vision. The titles of Dintino’s recent work; Eventide, Mirage, Ecstasy, allude to the subtle way remembered color is translated into an abstract configuration. This is his first show at the gallery.
