This event has ended.

Jerelyn Hanrahan, through her playfully crafted sculptures and paintings, she explores her childhood fascination and love for fairy tales. She recreates the lightness of her utopian world through her carefully crafted work.

On display are the artist’s porcelain figurines and her colorful paintings that provoke ethereal thoughts and recall visions of childhood. Each unique and vibrant piece, which are full of personality and gesture, invites the viewer to enter her happy life’s memories, times spent on New York City’s Lower East Side and much of Europe.

Anders Knutsson, exhibits paintings, which must be viewed in the dark as well as under traditional gallery lights. They represent his lifelong commitment of exploring the relationship of light, color and emotion.

In the dark, each color changes in tone and intensity at a different rate of speed. As the change occurs in such vibrant colors as yellow, green, blue, red and violet, the emotional impact of the paintings also changes. A sense of private space is created for the viewer by the necessity of seeing these paintings in the dark, which make it a contemplative experience. Furthermore, the success of these paintings depends on the mental images they arouse in the viewer.

“The most spectacular and exciting issue to me is to see, by night, colored light radiate from the paint itself. This opens up a whole new interpretation and expression of light in painting, for it deals with emitted light from inside paint, in the dark, as well as reflected colors in the light.” -Anders Knutsson
