This event has ended.

Gitana Rosa Gallery presents Pink Stereos, a solo show of new paintings by artist and musician Brett Wintle. Inspired by everything from fashion magazines to early Miami Vice episodes, the work pairs abstract geometric color with the expressive line common to fashion illustration; all on a large scale. Working on canvas of that size allows for minute detail as well as impulsive brush work. The subjects in these works could easily inhabit the world of Duran Duran’s “The Chauffer” video or grace the cover of Warhol’s “Interview” magazine during it’s prime. All work was completed during the summer months and heavily influenced by coastal living.

Brett Wintle was born in New Jersey in 1978 and has lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn since 2001. Ignoring labels such as pop art or fashion illustration, his work is colorful, vibrant and always with a touch of the melancholy.

This is his first solo exhibition at Gitana Rosa Gallery.
