Ed. Varie presents No Matter New Matter, a three person exhibition welcoming artists Michelle Blade (Los Angeles), Fiona Curran (London), and Malin Gabriella Nordin (Stockholm).

No Matter New Matter unveils the practices of three artists from different parts of the world who explore varying perceptions of nature, whether environmental or manmade. The works in this intimate group show run parallel to nature by engaging organic and incidental approaches to a variety of materials.

Michelle Blade, currently based in Los Angeles, earned an MFA from California College of the Arts, San Francisco and a BA from Loyola Marymount, Los Angeles. Blade has exhibited at Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco; Roberts & Tilton, Los Angeles; Bravin Lee Gallery, New York; Western Exhibitions, Chicago; The Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Fe; Union Gallery, London; and V1 Gallery, Copenhagen, among others. Blade was recently included in the exhibition Your Favorite Artist’s Favorite Artist at Joshua Liner Gallery. Blade is a recipient of the Murphy-Cadogan Fellowship, the 2X2 Pro Arts Grant, and the Alternative Exposure SOEX Grant. This will be Blade’s first exhibition with Ed. Varie.

Fiona Curran is an artist based in London, and is currently completing a PhD at The Slade School of Fine Art. Curran holds a BA in Philosophy from The University of Manchester, UK, and a BA and MFA from Manchester School of Art. She is currently a Senior Tutor at The Royal College of Art in London. Curran has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. Recent exhibitions include a solo show at Carslaw St* Lukes, London, and group shows at BREESE LITTLE, London; RMIT, Melbourne, Australia; Baltic 39, Newcastle, UK; and H Projects, Bangkok. Curran has also completed two site-specific commissions: Art Across the City, Swansea, UK and The Tatton Park Biennial, Cheshire, UK. This will be Curran’s first exhibition in the United States.

Malin Gabriella Nordin was born and raised in Stockholm and holds a BFA from Bergen National Academy of the Arts, Bergen, Norway. She has had solo exhibitions in Sweden at Fullersta Gård, Huddinge; Gallery Steinsland Berliner, Stockholm; Krets, Malmö; and Galleri Fisk, Bergen, Norway. Nordin has participated widely in international group exhibitions from San Francisco to South Africa. Nordin’s monograph, Private Language, was published by Museum Paper in 2014. This will be Nordin’s first exhibition in New York, and she will be the inaugural artist in the Ed. Varie Residency program launching in Winter 2016.
