This event has ended.

Montserrat Daubon’s landscape paintings are distillations of feeling and place. Presenting mostly all work on paper, this show is an exploration of plein-air work and how it fuels studio invention. The on site work is oil on paper. The larger works are large format watercolor executed on a wall and on the floor by throwing, splashing and dripping paint. Montserrat is attracted to watercolor because of its immediacy and transparency. Every stroke of energy, intention and accident is recorded. The goal is to layer these recordings while building up pigment to create an emotional image of what a place feels like.

Montserrat lives and works in Harlem, NYC. She studied painting, drawing and sculpture at the Art Students League of NY where she is currently a technical instructor. She is a 2 time recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Artist Award, held a solo show of her landscapes at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art and currently has a public sculpture installed in NYC titled ‘Shipwreck’ located at 155th St. and Riverside Drive, through NYC Department of Transportation’s Urban Art Program.
