This event has ended.

Monsieur Gülgönen is a French architect of Turkish origin who has practiced and taught architecture for over forty years in Paris. Having graduated from M.E.T.U. (Middle East Technical University) in Ankara, Gülgönen received two Master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, one in architecture in Louis Kahn’s studio and the other in urban planning. After graduation he worked in the office of Louis Kahn before returning to teach at his alma mater in Ankara. There he became chairman of the faculty of architecture.

Having received honorable mention for their entry in the Centre Pompidou competition in Paris with a group of Turkish colleagues, Gülgönen decided to move to France permanently in the early 1970s, where he joined a group of French friends who were alumni of Kahn’s studio to teach studio at what arguably became the best school of architecture in France for many years, Ecole d’Architecture Paris-Belleville.
