ART 101 presents No Big Words, the first solo exhibition of conceptual artist, Nick Hugh Schmidt..

A paint-splattered red carpet on the sidewalk will lead visitors into the gallery.

At the core of the show is “Unlock and Explore,” an installation in which Schmidt leaves his cell phone on display for people to ‘explore’ his personal and private life — unscripted and unaltered.

Other works raise issues of time, identity, nudity, celebrity and vulnerability.

“I am interested in ways I can repurpose the things we encounter in our everyday lives.”

Nick Hugh Schmidt, best known for his PacMan stickers on the L trains, graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design. After moving to New York and working in advertising, he has been shifting his emphasis onto the intersection between ads and art.
