A select group of newly chosen 2014 class of NYFA (New York Foundation for the Arts) Finalists will exhibit their work at ONISHI Project as innovators who have achieved notable results. The show will open Thursday, February 19 with a reception from 6 – 8 PM and run through Saturday March 7th. Events planned during the run of the exhibition include a Meet the Artist celebration on Saturday afternoon, February 28, as well as a Professional Development introduction to NYFA’s services. The latter event will feature NYFA staff who can educate professional and aspiring artists about the organization’s programs and services, with an emphasis on their Artist Fellowship program, and will take place Tuesday evening February 24 with Joe Gough from NYFA available from 5 – 7PM. During that event, Nana Onishi will also be on hand to discuss her Onishi Project program for emerging and mid-career artists.

The NYFA Finalists who will be exhibited have been selected from a highly competitive pool; from a total of 4117 applications; only 93 Fellows, including 3 collaborations, and 15 Finalists were selected. The NYFA Finalists at Onishi will exhibit work in the disciplines of Digital Electronic Media, Sculpture/Crafts and Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts. For the past 28 years, NYFA has awarded Artists’ Fellowships to individual originating artists living in New York State.

Meet the Artist: Saturday February 28, 2–4pm
