The holiday season is excessive, highly decorative, fantastical, contagious and undeniably dear and close to our hearts. From Martin Parr’s comical documentation of the extravagant Mall of America Lego display to Fred Cray’s naughty double printed tree works,this range of photographic works include it all.
Ray Mortenson’s masterful prints from his series Manhattan exemplify the iconic holiday-scape of Rockefeller Center. Hanno Otten uses color to echo the energy of a festive frenzy as well as the wrapping paper of a precious gift. Jim Dow’s Town Diner and Larry Sultan’s Moving Out evoke the feeling of visiting back home and the vanishing sets of the past. Jan Groover, Robert Cumming and Sandy Skoglund all build and create entire fantasy worlds with their elaborate techniques. Be Merry!
