This event has ended.

Pace Prints presents an exhibition of prints and monoprints by April Gornik at its 32 East 57th Street gallery. The exhibition will chronicle her collaborations with the Pace Editions Workshop over the past two decades at will feature her newest edition, Desert Light.

April Gornik created Desert Light using soft ground etching, aquatint and spitbite aquatint to depict the radiant shearing light of an expansive desert landscape. Employing three plates with six colors, the artist recreates the weight and richness of the environment she encountered during her travels to Namibia.

The painterly effects of the foreground were achieved using spit-bite aquatint. Aquatint and soft ground etching techniques were chosen to articulate the dunes’ cascading shadows. Contrasting tones and gradations lend a mystical quality to the print and reflects the artist’s astute perception of color and light’s ability to evoke emotion.
