This event has ended.

In “I Am Your Labyrinth”, Francine LeClercq uses mythological figures and references in advancing her in depth investigations of contemporary perception involving site, specificity, presence of the viewer, and notions of movement and experience as integral components of the work.

Comprised of differently sized tablets depicting the iconic Sleeping Ariadne statue from various angles and dispersed in both the real and a replica scale model of the gallery space in a seemingly explosive outburst, as it were erupting from the diverging perspectival gaze of the viewers, she presents us with an instantaneous bird’s eye and linear views wherein the shifting centrality and relations between the observer and the work and the varying spatial outlines of their exchange is brought to the fore.

Born in France, Francine LeClercq completed her education with honors from the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg/ France. Her work is grounded on the thematics of perception and the tectonics of painting and has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Europe and the United States. She has received numerous national and international mentions and awards and has had the privilege to see her work selected for exhibitions by eminent curators such as Peter Blum, James Cuno, Lynne Warren, Maxwell Anderson, and Janne Siren to mention a few.

She lives and works in New York City.
