Hunter East Harlem Gallery at Hunter College presents the educational project, POWRPLNT East Harlem: Digital Art Collaboratory + Indoor Garden POWRPLNT, is a pop-up digital art laboratory and an indoor garden founded by artist Angelina Dreem and will be opening its 3rd incarnation of the project at Hunter College’s East Harlem Gallery. The opening will present video collages from artists Sam Rolfes, Yulan Grant, Samantha Cornwell, and Miguel Gaydosh.
Textiles by Nandi Loaf. Samantha Urbani will be DJing throughout the opening on Wednesday, June 24th from 6-10pm.

For this installation, POWRPLNT has teamed up with artists Deanna Havas, Rodan Tekle, David Van Witt, Hunter’s own Interactive Media Arts MFA students and more to provide free technology classes for local teens. Classes include making sound installations, learning how to paint digitally, and sculpting aliens in 3D software. On Saturdays, POWRPLNT will be hosting all ages workshops focused on artistic development like “Girls Only Video Diary” by journalist Whitney Mallet, “Passion Management” taught by AHBS producer Alberto Arensberg, “Intro to Copyright Law” by Parka Records founder Anibal Luque.

The two-month installation(June 24–September 5, 2015) will operate as an open computer lab and studio space to the public. More events will be announced throughout the installation.Previous installations of POWRPLNT have been hosted at Stream Gallery in Bushwick and Red Bull Studios in Chelsea.

All classes are free and operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.
