“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.” –Herman Hesse, excerpt ‘On Trees’

Morris-Warren Gallery presents “Into The Woods”, a group show featuring Aimee Burg, Nicholas Cueva, Adam Frezza & Terri Chiao, Jytte Hoy, Jon Legere, Gregory MacAvoy, Esperanza Mayobre, Abraham McNally, Jason Middlebrook, Jim Osman, Kardash Onnig, Cordy Ryman, Darragh Rooney, Jill Satterfield, Frank Shattuck, Steve Silver, Peter Thorne, and Lindsey Wolkowicz. The artists in this show are all using wood in one form or another as the medium for their work.

The “Woods” is traditionally a place of mystery, enchantment, and adventure. In so many of our stories, fairy tales and mythologies, the hero goes into the forest to face challenges, encounter enemies, or discover whatever magic they were seeking on their way toward transformation or apotheosis. The Woods is also a source of shelter, materials for building, and a multitude of utilitarian apparatus and accessories. “Into The Woods” offers elements of Fine Art and Design reflecting the gallery’s recent transition from Design Store to Contemporary Art Gallery.

From Antique Furniture to Contemporary Sculpture, “Into The Woods” offers a wide array of interesting, beautiful and thought provoking hand-made objects from some of the Gallery’s favorite artists.
