This event has ended.

Tomoko Terashita’s drawings have no meaning. Her pencil line sometimes looks as if it is trying to say something to the spectator or has some meaning, but it doesn’t. Always, there is no meaning. Black pencil lines on white paper, and sometimes with colors.

Tomoko Terashita was born in Kyoto, Japan. She graduated from Saga Art College in Kyoto where she studied oil paintin. After working as a canvas bag artisan she decided to move to Paris. At the time she couldn’t afford to buy oil paints but luckily found a big collection of colored pencils at a yard sale in Paris; she has worked with pencil ever since. Her work has been exhibited in Kyoto (Akateletecobe Sovesahva, 2009 and 2014), Paris (L’Espace Energie & Creation, 1997), and New York (Chashama Gallery, 2001). Terashita has been based in cambridge, Massachusetts since 2011.
