JCAL presents “Artists Co-Op II,” our 2nd annual showcase of work by artists from around the borough of Queens, NY. Chosen through an open call by a panel of fellow artists, Artists Co-Op II includes photography, painting, textile and mixed media works and sculpture by 15 emerging and established artists. Once a membership based program, the Artists Co-Op series, was reborn as the center’s an annual event, created to support Queens based artists by providing them with a venue to curate, produce and present their work.
The participating artists are: Salimah Ali, Sharela Bonfield, Luis Caraos, Joyce Chan, Carol Crawford, Karen Fitzgerald, Jean Foos, Linda Ganjian, Mary Giancoli, Marvenia Knight, Sandra Mack Valencia, Mary Pinto, Jorge Posada, Okada Satoshi and Priscilla Stadler.
The public is invited to meet the artists at an opening reception on Thursday, September 10 at 6pm and an Artist Talk on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 1pm. The exhibition will remain open through October 31st. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, and is located in JCAL’s landmarked building at 161-04 Jamaica Avenue, Jamaica, NY. It is easily accessible via public transportation including the E and J Trans and numerous bus lines.
