Calligraphy of Buddhist Sermons by Reverend Tokuo Hayasaki – Praying for Peace & World Harmony-

The Nippon Gallery presents the calligraphy exhibit of Buddhist Sermons by renowned Japanese calligrapher Reverend Tokuo Haysaki “Prayer for Peace and Restful Life” September 10- 16, 2015. Buddhist sermons, known as hogo in Japanese, express morals and philosophy for life and are often displayed in hanging scrolls and frames of rooms in Japan.

This very rare collection of the calligraphic works of Buddhism words and phrases is Reverend Hayasaki’s first exhibit outside Japan. Most of his artwork is very tidy and simple and generates a sense of peacefulness. This exhibit will pay tribute to the 9/11 victims.
Reverend Hayasaki, was raised at the temple of Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, by the Lake Biwa. As a young boy he learned a lot about calligraphy. After graduating from Otani University and being assigned as an ordained monk, he taught calligraphy at many schools and held more than 10 exhibits in various cities in Japan, including Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo. He is looking forward to his 11th exhibit in New York City. Please come see the calligraphy of Buddhist sermons by Reverend Tokuo Hayasaki.
