This event has ended.

Gallery Juno presents a solo exhibition of photographs by New York based artist Yoshinori Hashimoto. His work is the rare combination of a sensitive and personal attachment to his subjects filtered through the nonjudgmental lens of the camera.

Hashimoto’s photos are candid and affectionate glimpses into the lives of those he encounters in his travels around the world, offering the viewer an immediate and often intimate relationship with people we may never meet, places we may never go, and things we may never see were it not through Hashimotos’s wandering lens.

Transient is a series of exquisitely luminous, tonally intricate and minimally orchestrated contemplations of the physical and metaphysical, of the enduring and the perishable; of people living in small, often desolate villages in Morocco, Africa, Peru, India, Mexico and Tibet. They are atemporal, fleeting moments captured on film, allowing us to experience, if only for a brief moment, the distinct cultures of the world around us, at once distant and yet, at the same time, familiar, forging a vital connection to ourselves and our unique place in time and space.

Included in the exhibition is Plant Series, Hashimoto’s original editions of silver gelatin prints which reverently explore the elemental forms of flowers and plants. The results are elegant compositions of profound subtlety that exude a quiet sentience, a graceful harmony, and capture the delicate breath and personality of the flora themselves.

Yoshinori Hashimoto was born in the Fukuoka Prefecture in southern Japan. He is a graduate of the Kyusan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, with a concentration in Photography and Layout Design. In New York, Hashimoto’s work has run the gamut of travel, portrait, beauty, and fashion photography, while working alongside luminaries such as Patrick Demarchelier, Claus Wickrath, and Albert Watson.
