Using imagery of flora as a springboard I hope to evoke tropical landscapes that have visual effects of a kaleidoscope and emotional effects of kitsch. I apply paint in a decorative manner that verges on the grotesque. My paint application, with its texture acting as line and pattern, is an organizing form in and of itself, casting shadows and creating optical rhythms. I use a full color palette in keeping with my intention to be as ornamental and vibrant as possible.
