“Painting to me is an exhilarating and violent form of thought. I think of the cosmic dust and the origins of it all. I become Prussian blue, violet, shades of grey and black; I paint the abyss and the morning star. My painting practice is a philosophical inquiry about the relationship between the materiality of paint and ambiguity of my brush mark. It is an incessant search for a composition, which evokes a mood that touches one’s deepest sensibilities.”

Ewelina Bochenska (b. Lodz, Poland) graduated in 2011 from Goldsmiths College, University of London with a B.A. (Hons) in Art Practice. Her work has been exhibited in the UK, Poland and the United States, at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolors in London, England, Tecoah Bruce Gallery in Oakland California, Sonia Gechtoff Gallery and the National Academy Museum in New York City. Ewelina received an Artist-in-Residence Scholarship from the Arts Students League in 2010 and currently is a resident artist at the chashama Visual Arts Program in Brooklyn.
