Gary Sapolin “Five Elements”
chashama (1155 6th Ave.)
This event has ended.
Gary Sapolin’s images are informed by his years of study and practice of Eastern spiritual traditions, and supported by his twenty years of working as a professional photographer in New York City. His landscapes have been selected for numerous juried exhibitions and are collected by individuals as well as institutions. His current work is a merging of his ongoing interests in art and spirituality, specifically, the Five Elements of Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood. His aesthetic vision is motivated by an almost mystical way of seeing; allowing him to approach the work from “a place of deep, unbounded spaciousness which is unclouded by preconceived ideas.”
In his artistic process, Sapolin is inspired by a feeling of connection with the divine presence in nature and the physical world. He writes, “There is sublime beauty in even the most ordinary object and profound mystery in all that is knowable and unknown. I hope that my photographs communicate a small taste of this beauty and mystery.”
