This event has ended.

Marc Giai-Miniet “Théâtre de la Mémoire”

The sculptures in Théâtre de la Mémoire are reminiscent of meticulously detailed dollhouses. The artist refers to his diorama-like structures as “boxes” and they function similar to a theatrical stage, with one side open to reveal a multi-level, uninhabited building. Each floor contains subjects such as libraries overflowing with books, warehouses with rusty mechanical equipment, laboratories with abandoned experiments and basements covered in soot.

Fabio D’Aroma “West of Ovest”

West of Ovest is the second installment of D’Aroma’s procession project, in which slightly distorted figures set against a white background rhythmically march in a laborious sequence. The individual paintings and subjects interact with each other but each scene maintains a level of autonomy as if characters coming from different sociopolitical and religious backgrounds, as well as ambiguous time periods, were abruptly forced into a mass exodus.

Esao Andrews “Epilogues”

In Epilogues, Andrews explores the theme of homecoming by revisiting imagery from his past works. The haunting atmospheres of previous paintings have informed this new series, in which conclusions are given to some of the artist’s most notable narratives. Focusing on the concept of a journey’s end, Andrews imbues his subjects with a sense of closure and the opportunity for new beginnings.
