Describing her painting, Chillingworth reveals: “I use the events that I observe in nature so that I can bring to others an echo of what resonates in me. Writers such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Rainer Maria Rilke have inspired me to search for my own fresh experience, with authenticity. The rhythm and transitory aspect in nature is transformative, I believe this connection is especially essential today.” Phyllis Chillingworth lives in New York City and Montauk.
