Film/TV producer Jerry Bruckheimer calls him “The Master.” Mark Walhberg calls him “The best ever.” He is consistently the highest ranked photographer in the world on IMDB Pro (Internet Movie Data Base, the gold standard of entertainment universe standings). His images have become the campaigns for such films as The Crow, Training Day, National Treasure, Transformers, Pursuit of Happyness and many more. He has done photography for Will Smith and has served as the personal photographer for the family of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz.

Zuckerman is the creator of the esteemed KINDSIGHT® series, that uses photography and accompanying texts to illuminate the richness of everyday life through random encounters and moments (www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-g-zuckerman),

Zuckerman began KINDSIGHT® in 2002, in the wake of 9-11 when the world was cloaked in the specter of terror, when he realized and wanted to share that the antidote to terror lay in the richness of everyday life that is ever present, within arm’s, heart’s and mind’s reach. “There is great power in saying hello, in recognizing and acknowledging others,” he says. “It is said, ‘if you look for the good in others, you will find it there – when you speak to the good in others, you strengthen it.’”

At about the same time as the KINDSIGHT® project began, Zuckerman also began experiencing mobility and balance impairment and other symptoms of what, over seven years hence, would be diagnosed as Adult Polygluscosan Body Disease (APBD), a rare, untreatable, steadily worsening genetic disease affecting primarily Ashkenazi Jews. Currently, the progression of APBD has rendered Robert paraplegic.

Zuckerman has partnered with the Adult Polyglucosan Body Disease Research Foundation (www.apbdrf.org, founded in 2005 by patient Gregory Weiss) in presenting KINDSIGHT® at 92Y, with hopes of building and increasing awareness about APBD in the Jewish Community and in the world at large. Going forward, toward this end, Zuckerman will create a series of KINDSIGHT® pieces about the APBD community, including patients, doctors, researchers, family members and more.

Zuckerman adds, “For me, and what I try to share with others, is that, aside from being a great creative medium, photography is also a vehicle – for excellence and professionalism, for wonder, for respect, for responsibility and for being a good person each and every day. It has, as much as possible, become an integration of life and craft. Through it I am able to give value to people’s lives and derive value in my own life, beyond making a living.”
