This event has ended.

Pocket Utopia presents Jane Kent’s solo exhibition titled Knock Knock new work.

At the center point of the exhibition at Pocket Utopia are two new silkscreen prints, one titled Pink Eye and the other Blue Nose. Working on these new, hand pulled multilayered prints this past summer, Jane Kent spent two weeks at the Print Association (Druckvereinigung Bentlage) in Kloster Bentlage, Rheine, Germany collaborating with Ann Aspinwall and Knut Willich of Aspinwall Editions, NY.

Kent uses the unfolded cardboard boxes as templates for silkscreen construction. Unabashedly colorful, with layered assemblies of rectangles and punctuated by flat, carefully errant marks and brushstrokes, Kent’s prints and drawings unfold in a precise dialogue of silhouettes and juxtaposed shapes.

Produced to be given away during this exhibition, Jane Kent has self published an offset print in an edition of 1000.

Continuing with a theme of presenting small sculptural installations in the window gallery, this exhibition will also feature a sculptural installation in miniature by Daniel Wiener that will intermix different colored plinths with tiny books, faces and masks. Danielle Dimston will complement the entire exhibit with a single, recently completed ephemeral and circular watercolor in tonal blacks and greys.
