This event has ended.

KINZ + TILLOU FINE ART is an art salon located in a 19th century brownstone in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, premiering a series of paintings by Bradley McCallum, Artist in Residence with the Coalition for the International Criminal Court. Concurrently, we have invited McCallum to curate an exhibition of his contemporaries who explore issues of international justice.

PORTRAITS OF JUSTICE is a selection of paintings by Bradley McCallum portraying leaders accused of crimes against humanity while being tried before the International Criminal Court and related tribunals in The Hague, Netherlands. Haunting and hyper realistic, McCallum’s photo-based oil paintings convey the tensions these trials represent as the world attempts to seek justice for modern-day atrocities.

POST CONFLICT, curated by Bradley McCallum, examines the different ways artists have responded to situations of extreme conflict, abuse of power, and international engagement.

“Post-Conflict” is a term used in international recovery and justice communities to mark the end of a conflict and the beginning of a new period of development, aid, reconstruction, and accountability. The duration of time that “post-conflict” represents is variable, fragile and involves multiple challenges—ranging from transitional justice to rebuilding civil society. However, the power of art to address incomprehensible human abuse, treat injustice as moments of self-reflection, and focus our attention in aesthetic and poetic ways is constant.
