School of Visual Arts presents “SVA Computer Art: Senior Thesis Projects,” an exhibition of projects by graduating BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects students. Organized by Matthew McKenna, senior systems director of BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects, the exhibition is on view April 23 through May 17 at the SVA Flatiron Gallery, 133/141 West 21st Street, New York City. Admission is free.
“The works in ‘SVA Computer Art: Senior Thesis Projects’ traverse a broad spectrum of narrative themes and visual styles.” McKenna says, “Though these projects are as distinct as each individual student, the exhibition celebrates the shared experience of working with technology to create an artistic statement. These works are rooted in students’ passion and vision, with polygons and pixels serving as the raw materials. Using the latest technology as a scaffold, the works in this exhibition stand tall to reflect the artistic viewpoint of the next generation of 3D animators and visual effects artists.”
BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects students at SVA are given the technical skills necessary to begin a successful career in film, television, commercial and video-game production. They have access to the most advanced digital applications and are guided to develop both the personal and professional capabilities expected in the top tiers of highly competitive creative industries. Using a production-based curriculum, students create professional-quality portfolios each year.
