John Molloy Gallery presents STOLEN PROPERTY, a group show curated by Tony Fitzpatrick that features the work of Mr. Fitzpatrick alongside others he respects.
Tony Fitzpatrick is the great artist & poet of Chicago today. His work is in the Museum of Modern Art, Art Institute of Chicago, National Museum of American Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among others. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and has been widely recognized for his originality and intelligence. His iconography celebrates Chicago as well as American ideals, past and present. For this show, he has created work that reflects the American experience as it relates to the land that was systematically taken from its original inhabitants. He has selected various works from other artists that refer, however tangentially, to this theme.
