This event has ended.

The Nippon Gallery hosts the exhibition of KIMONO dresses by Kiyomi Kitagawa, a popular fashion designer and a representative of Atelier Bi-no-Sei. Kitagawa revives stylish and practical design dresses in harmony with modern lifestyles from traditional craftwork “silk fabric-KIMONO” - a “microcosm” of Japanese sensibility that has been shaped by the passing of the “four seasons” since ancient times. These dresses show not only the “craftsman’s spirit” by seasoned KIMONO workmen, but also her knowhow and experience as a textile garment designer.

It just so happened that the Tomioka Silk Mill - a producer of exquisite silk fabrics that charmed people all over the world - was recently registered as a World Heritage. Kitagawa believes this to be an opportune occasion to globally promote “Made in Japan” silk fabrics once more.

At this exhibition, 30 pieces of KIMONO dresses with Olympic rings colors, mainly evening dresses reborn from “OMESI fabric”, which is no longer produced; TOMESODE, FURISODE, and TSUKESAGE, which used luxurious embroidered and variegated techniques will be displayed.
