This event has ended.

The first impression is of the light infused bright colors of midsummer fecundity – joyfully profligate. But, then there are other aspects of nature that subtly make their appearance. There is the transformation of the seasons as decay and dying replace the exuberance of budding and flowering. Finally, in the installation, “FOREST” we are in the realm of tragedy. The installation is a symbolic honoring of the Holocaust.

“My work exists on the border between realism and abstraction, where things are not always what they seem. Strong color and bold design force their way into awareness, playing with distortions of space and form. The subjects choose me because I am intrigued and curious about everything I see. I’m inspired by ideas that seem to come “out of the blue” - something I’ve seen or read, something someone mentions. Once I get an idea it grabs hold of me, so I often work in series. What the work looks like when it is finished is a surprise to me because I can’t remember making the decisions that created it. My hand seemed to move on it’s own. The pleasure of the surprise is a big part of why I make art.”
